Long trek up to Winterton (North of Scunthorpe) for the latest Linc’s league C-X event. Flat grass field based event at the showground, not too technical and only getting a bit greasy on some of the corners meant a fast race with virtually no place to catch your breath.

Ride of the day came from Reece Egner, who took full advantage of the absence of some of the top local riders who were riding the national trophy event at York. Hitting the front from the start, Reece was always around the front group which gradually whittled down to 3 riders covered by a couple of seconds. With the riders taking it in turns to attack, Reece was 5 seconds down on lap 6 of 9 but fought back on lap 7. Through the last slippery corner he was leading with 100m to go and just held on by a tyres width for the win from Gareth Whittall, with Adam Cadle at 1 second. Younger brother Adam couldn’t quite live with the pace at the front but held on well for 5th. Henry Gould having swopped his heavy mountain bike for a lighter cyclo-cross bike enjoyed himself a bit more, starting to compete further up the field, finishing 17th.
