After a weeks break the Lincs cyclo-cross league resumed at Lobby Fields near Binbrook in the North of the county. Located in the bottom of a valley this is always a tough event with a bumpy grass slope to negotiate and a steep 10ft high bank to be tackled from various directions which left quite a few riders deciding it was safer to descend on foot rather than on the bike. However after quite a bit of rain in the previous week, the course held up reasonably well, with the wet conditions helping to smooth out the bumps as the day went on.
There were some good rides by various club riders with Amy Kolbert only just missing out on 1st girl overall finishing only 10 seconds down on the leading girl in the older age category.
The under 9s put on a great race with Noah Lane just finishing outside the top 3.
The under 12s had a really tough ride taking in the complete climb of the bumpy grass field which as relatively inexperienced riders they all deserved credit for just finishing, as Isla Kolbert led the way in 13th.
Paul Conneely was the first local rider in the Veterans race 20th overall and 3rd vet 50.
Julie Clark continued to impress in her first season of cross, just failing to overhaul the first rider in the veterans category by 8 seconds, after catching her on the riding sections but losing time on the remounts coming of the high bank.
