| Witham Wheelers started their 2019 club TT season with the traditional curtain raiser a 10 mile 2-up event, where riders ride in pairs taking it in turns to share the work on the front. Despite a return to cold wintry comditions there was still a reasonable turn-out of 27 riders in various combinations with the quickest pair on the evening Peter Cocker and Martyn Ludlam in 24.03 both still recovering from the 80 mile Coalville Whs RR on Sunday. Not too far behind Henry Gould and Stephen Hobday in 24.36 with veterans Simon Cocker & Michael Smalley 3rd 26.19 Next week Tuesday 9th sees the start of the 10 mile league, a series of sixteen 10 mile Time Trials held on Tuesday evenings on quiet country lanes just outside Grantham. Events can be entered on a weekly basis with the HQ at Grantham Cricket Club on Gorse lane, from 6.00 pm onwards with the first rider starting at 6.45 setting off at 1 minute intervals. Incorporated into the series are 3 leagues for 1) Fastest rider, 2) Veterans on an age related basis and 3) Handicap so there is something for everyone to compete for, the best 10 out of 16 to count at the end of the season. |
