Karl Baillie riding for his new team Haribo-Beacon was thrown in at the deep end racing in the Milk Race closely followed by the Durham round of the Pearl Izumi Tour series. The Milk race was fast and furious with plenty of crashes. A crash on the first lap even caused a restart. Karl rode strong to a believed 10th place in the event won by Graham Briggs of Rapha Condor JLT. The event organisers have had Karl down as 25th but is thought to be 10th after having a lap out for being involved in a crash but the confusion is understandable as it was a hectic race to commissaire. The organisers are reassessing the result.
Karl was then drafted into the team for the tour series round in Durham. Being gridded at the back it was always going to be a hard race for the team as it proved on the cobbled climb. Karl rode well and had a great experience racing with a lot of the best racers in the country.
