Karl Baillie (PedalPushers) raced in the latest round of the Junior National Road Race series in the Tour of Mendips with a field of over 80 riders. It was meant to be a 2 day stage race but due to ongoing roadworks the first stage was cancelled.
Karl didn’t feel too good but battled in the strong winds up the long climbs including Burrington Coombe. A 3 man breakaway got away fairly early in the 60 mile stage but Karl managed to finish a strong 10th place at the finish line on the final climb of Harptree Hill. In the series standings Karl may have moved into 3rd place overall which is a great start to his first season in the Junior ranks.
