Great weekend of road racing based at Woolsthorpe Village Hall
Stage 1 – 5 mile Team TT starting in Woolsthorpe to Harston left to Denton, Left to finish at the Viking Way corner
Stage 2 – 45 mile road race 3 laps of the Harby Circuit with a rapid downhill finish around half a mile past Belvoir castle
Stage 3 – 55 mile road stage same circuit but going going up Stathern rather than Harby, finished 6th time up Stathern
Stage 4 – Â individual Hill Climb straight up Woolsthorpe Hill, the one towards Denton.
The Wobblies team of Lewey Byrne, Paul Conneely and Harry Browning (PedalPushers guesting) rode a creditable TTT finishing around a minute off the time set by the strong PedalPower (Adam Gascoigne, Paul Cox, Mike Jones) team of Loughborough. In the road races Harry Browning made several breaks and was only caught within sight of the finish on stage 3. But the PedalPower team controlled the race well maintaining a high pace throughout limiting the chance for any successful breakaways. Both Paul and Lewey found the hills challenging and were eventually distanced from the bunch but kept going well to finish, when a lot of riders were dropping out on the tough circuits.
Final placings are still to be calculated, but it was a great weekend of real road racing, with fantastic weather, well done to Paul Hamilton of Nottingham Clarion for promoting.
Thanks to Mark Colclough for the photos at the Stathern finishing line
