The second round of the East Midlands Road race league for 2/3/4 category riders took place at Mickleover near Derby over 5 laps of a rolling 13 circuit route with a good representation of local riders.

No significant breaks established over the first 2 laps but on the third lap  4 riders Steve Young and Peter Cocker of PedalPushers, Adam Kenway Team Zenith Buzz Cycles and Ed Pickard (Beeston RC) were starting to move clear of the bunch with several small groups chasing. Over the next lap the break pulled a lead of almost 2 minutes before Cocker dropped out as he paid for his efforts at Darley Moor the previous day, leaving the other 3 to fight out the finish with Kenway winning the sprint and Young taking a well earned 3rd place. Juniors James Carter (Witham Wheelers) and Alistair Golby (VO2 Dev Team) riding their first open road race rode really well to kept out of trouble and finish comfortably in the bunch along with Martin Ludlam (Witham Wheelers) and Harry Browning (PedalPushers)
