Witham Wheelers latest Reliability Ride sorted the ‘men from boys’ figuratively speaking as a mix of heavy rain and snow forecast for 9.00 am Sunday morning seemed to deter all but 18 hardy souls from tackling the 48 mile rolling route down to Pickworth and returning via Cottesmore.
The forecast was reasonably accurate although the rain was not too heavy, there was snow and it was very cold and a strong easterly wind was generally helpful apart from the last 10 miles back to Grantham.
The riders split into 2 groups which worked together pretty well, ensuring that just about everybody got around safely with a feeling of satisfaction at having braved the elements.
Next Sunday 19th the distance goes up to just over 60 miles with a circuit taking in Heckington and Bourne, with a shorter option available. First group leaves the cricket club on Gorse Lane at 8.45 all welcome.
