Witham Weelers first reliability of the year took place over a 32 mile route starting from the cricket club on Gorse lane and heading out to Waltham on the Wolds via Saltby before heading towards Harby and returning via Redmile and Belvoir castle before the last steep climb from Denton back onto Gorse lane.
48 riders including complete novices to experienced racers and ages ranging from 14 to 70+, it was also especially pleasing to see a growing number of ladies taking part. The riders set of in 4 ability groups with the aim for the riders to stay together and complete the ride in the target speed range which by and large all managed to do. Group 1 -12.1mph, group 2 15.5mph, Group 3 -16.6mph and Group 4 18.6mph.
Next Sunday 17th its a slightly longer 40 mile route heading south to Whissendine before returning via Waltham on the Wolds, there will be also be a shorter route available for those less confident of the longer distances, with the first group leaving the cricket club on Gorse Lane at 9.30, all welcome. Further details and route maps can be found on the club web site at www.withamwheelers.com
