The rain stayed away but the gale force winds made the 8th Witham Wheelers reliability ride a real challenge, with the 63 mile circuit heading out past Belvoir Castle to Melton Mowbray and then directly into the wind on the rolling road to Tilton on the Hill. Here the route swung towards Oakham and back to Grantham via South Witham, the riders were able to pick up speed as the wind was now more behind them although the route was still rolling all the way with no easy miles.
The three groups that tackled the full route survived it more or less intact although the early hills into the wind did cause a few riders to drop back from group 3 to group 2. Group 1 sucessfully tackled a shorter 38 mile
Sunday 1st March its a 100km route heading out in the Vale of Belvoir and then looping back to Waltham on the Wolds and Little Bytham before returning to Grantham. First group leaves the Cricket club at 8.30 am and again there will be a shorter route option, all welcome
