The second Witham Wheelers reliability ride took place over a 41 mile rolling route via Skillington, Whissindine and back via Waltham on the Wolds. The heavy overnight frost deterred a few starters but 48 riders still took up the challenge and all safely negotiated the icy conditions and pot holes on Gorse Lane and enjoyed a great ride in sunny but cold conditions.
The hills around Whissendine proved tough for some riders but nearly all completed in their target time, with Group 1 enjoying a shorter 30 mile route.
Next week ride 3 its only a 39 mile route but the hills of the Vale of Belvoir still make it a real challenge. Again there will be a shorter less challenging route for the more inexperienced rider. First group leaves the Cricket Club on Gorse Lane at 9.30 on Sunday 19th.
Also on Saturday 18th there will be a social ride of around 30 miles leaving from 9.30 at Pedalpushers bike shop on Inner Street, this will include a halfway cafe stop. All welcome.
