Dave Moulds and Daughter Heidi Moulds, Gary Symons and Paul Green who are all members in the Witham Wheelers Cycling Club took part in the first round of the Thetford Mountain bike challenge at Norfolk on Sunday 2nd November.
Heidi entered in the fun ride category as this was her first mountain bike challenge. She felt that she needed more experience before progressing into the 2 hour solo female 18-39 racing category.
Dave was entered into the 2 hour solo race along with Gary Symons and Paul Green.
Overall despite the very wet and technical conditions Heidi was determined to finish her challenge and she finished an impressive 9th out of the 14 riders in the ladies category. Heidi completed 2 laps in 1 hour 41 minutes.
Dave finished 31st out of 122 riders despite going over the handlebars! Dave completed 4 laps in 2 hours 6 minutes.
Gary came in two minutes in front of Dave finishing 23rd Gary also completed 4 laps just missing out on another lap as the cut off point was 2 hours. Gary completed this in 2 hours 4 minutes. This is a great result for Gary as this enables him to start at the front of the pack at the next race which enables him to avoid queuing for places at the start.
Paul Green competed 2 laps during the race as he is still recovering from a recent injury.
Overall a great result for the wheelers.
