Lincoln Festival Of Cycling Aiming To Return Bigger & Better Than Ever

Cyclists will have the chance to enjoy a weekend-long cycling extravaganza next year when the Lincoln Festival of Cycling 2017 brings a host of sporting events to the city.

The Lincoln Grand Prix and ITP Events have joined forces to create a unified programme of events planned to take place on 12, 13 and 14 of May 2017.

The event is expected to attract cycling enthusiasts from across the East Midlands region and across the country to take part in the Lincoln Criterium, Lincoln GP Sportive, Lincoln Uphill Dash and the Men’s and Women’s Lincoln Grand Prix.

Dan Ellmore for The Lincoln Grand Prix said:
“Lincoln is well known for its cycling events so we’re really pleased to be working with ITP Events to bring the programme back to a weekend long Festival.

“The 2017 event will be bigger and better than ever and won’t disappoint. By working together we’re proud to be protecting the future of Britain’s oldest remaining classic one-day cycle race and a proportion of the Sportive entry fee will contribute toward the Grand Prix.”

Ian Penrose for ITP Events said:
“Entries for the Sportive will open on 1 October numbers are limited to 2,000 to ensure a high-quality experience and a safe ride for participants.
“Our focus now is develop the festival into the UK’s biggest weekend of cycling.”

Tim Downing, director for Pygott & Crone and sponsor for the event added:
“I’ve been a keen cyclist for many years now so I’m thrilled about the Lincoln Festival of Cycling 2017.

“Lincoln’s tourism trade is booming now and events like this help to strengthen that even further and really put our fantastic city on the map.”

The Lincoln Criterium will take place on 12 May, the Lincoln GP Sportive on 13 May (morning), the Uphill Dash on 13 May (evening) and on 14 May, the Men’s and Women’s Lincoln Grand Prix.
