19/11 Dinner and Prize Presentation
The annual Witham Wheelers dinner and prize presentation was held at the Angel & Royal on Saturday evening with a full house of members and guests enjoying the occasion. After the meal Tony Mendham welcomed the guests on behalf of the members and reply was made by Rod Ellingworth, currently a key member of the Sky professional coaching team and club life member.
There was then a Question and Answer session with Guest of Honour local rider Katie Colclough winner of several European track championships and this year has ridden for the HTC Columbia professional team all over the world.
Prizes and trophies were then presented by Katie with Tony Mendham winning the Club Person of the year, as voted by members on the night. Peter Cocker who took most awards was unable to attend in person as he was competing in the Revolution Track meeting in Manchester. He received his trophies at the following weeks Turbo training session. Full list of trophy winners attached 2011
An interesting side note was that the Ken Baker who donated the 50 Mile Champion Cup back in 1961 was back in Grantham for the first time since then and saw the trophy presented again.
Further presentations of a Lifetime Membership certificate was made to Jeff Ellingworth to honour his contribution to the club over the years. Peter Storey then presented a certificate of thanks to the club from Kidney Research UK for the money raised over the last 3 years, since it became its nominated charity.
