4 local riders took part in the 70 mile race for Elite 1,2,3 category riders on a rolling course near near Coalville. Martin Ludlam (Witham Wheelers) in his first race of the year found the pace a bit too quick after not feeling very well earlier in the week and retired after 4 of the 9 laps. The PedalPushers trio of Steve Young, Harry Browning and Peter Cocker were active throughout the race but couldn’t get in the key breaks and finished in the main bunch. Elite riders Steve Lampier and Alex Peters finally made the break as the bell rang with Lampier taking the winning sprint some 20 seconds in front of a chasing break with the main bunch another 20 seconds back.
