League 10s, Marshalling and More

With the first of the League 10 due to start this Tuesday 7th April now is would seem a good opportunity to ask for members to think and plan ahead.

During previous seasons, a number of riders have foregone their participation in an event to marshal or push off when we have been short of volunteers on the night.  In an attempt to prevent this happening this season it is hoped that this year members can plan ahead and volunteer their services well in advance, thus making planning much easier for the organisers.

To this end please check your diaries in conjunction with the Club Calendar to find a date that would suit you for marshalling or ‘pushing off’.

There will be a list of events out at the evening time trials and you will be able to append your name against your preferred date.  Alternatively you can volunteer via the Forum.

Theoretically with 2 evening events we should have no problems with providing sufficient marshals from the club membership.  And bear in mind that only your best 12 results of the 16 League 10s will count towards the League 10 Championships.

Finally, for those that have read this far, there is a newly introduced incentive to hopefully gain your interest.  If you volunteer and assist with one of the 16 League 10s you will be allocated a maximum score of 20 points for that event.  This can then be counted as one of your 12 counting events and will not have lost out.  These 20 points you can then have allocated to the championship of your choice, Scratch/Handicap/Veterans.  But you can only do this once per season and it is first come first served up to the requirement for each evening.

We need the assistance of the membership to run these events so please volunteer when you can.

On a slightly different but related note, there will be a requirement for an assistant timekeeper at 2 or three evening time trials this seasonr whilst Dave and Loz are on holiday.  It would be great to have a couple more people available to cover these occasions, so if you think you can do this please speak to Rick Yates, Janet East, Loz Willets or Dave Bourchard.
