Sunday 12th Sept
A small but quality group tackled the 100 mile route, by Barrowby we had lost 2, Carol with a mechanical and Jon realising he hadn’t recovered from the previous days Sportive. This left 8 who rolled round the route at a reasonably sociable average 17.3mph with 5568ft climbing. This increase to 9 for a while as we were joined by Matt P who had set out earlier. Weather was ideal, warm with a very gentle breeze and a lunch stop at Spokes cafe Harringworth went down well.
Thanks to Alan, Janet and Dave for the moral support and Peter for the tow over the last 20 miles, when it started getting a bit grippy for us amateurs.

Start Time, meet at the Meres from 7.45am with the first group to start around 8.00.
Please leave your name and a contact number before starting, so that we have a record to check that everyone is back safe and sound. We hope to have a support car out and about on the day in case you have any issues on the day, contact number to follow
The Route: Similar to last year down to the Welland Valley, will post up a map and GPX link shortly.
Groups: Depending on the turnout, its probably best if we split into different groups to avoid riding in one large unmanageable group.
Refreshments: There are several cafes on the route, will aim for the main stop at around the 55 mile mark at the Spokes Cafe. This is in the village of Harringworth, you need to just go past the Left turn towards the Viaduct by about 100m. You cannot miss the Viaduct its a very large brick structure!!
Spares: Please ensure you are carrying necessary spare tubes and tools etc. to get you home, with Covid restrictions we should minimise the sharing of tools etc.
Fingers crossed for the weather and hope to see you Sunday. Remember the idea is just to have an enjoyable ride and hit that 100 mile mark over an enjoyable route, its not a race.!!
Its proposed to have a repeat of the 100 mile post lockdown clubride on Sunday 12th September, that we did last year. This went down into the Welland valley, a very scenic route with a few ups and downs but nothing too mountainous. Cannot guarantee that we will get the same weather but fingers crossed. Further details to be posted.
