The second round of the Lincs cyclo-cross league took place on the South Common at Lincoln, a venue that hadn’t been used for some 20 years. New group PainTrain laid out a tough course with a significant height gain each lap for the seniors as the route worked its way up the ridge. Luckily the heavy rain from the previous day dried up and the course was all rideable, although quite bumpy in places.

Following the first event last week at Heckington it was great to see the youngsters from the Go-Ride sessions starting to make an impression in the results.

First event up was the under 14s and 16s who were spared the climb of the ridge but still had a challenging course with Amy Kolbert stepping up well from the under 12s last year for an excellent 13^th overall and first girl overall, riding a very consistent race and showing great promise for the rest of the season.

In the under 9s there was also promising signs with Noah Lane upto 6^th overall with Max Kolbert not far behind in 10^th and Oliver Wix 12^th.

The under 12s also saw some close competition with Joshua Lane in 9^th, Isla Kolbert 14^th (3^rd Girl) just in front of Sam Grundy 15^th.

In the veterans race Paul Conneely rode an excellent race for 16^th overall (4^th Vet 50), with Sean East 49^th (33^rd vet 40) just getting the better of Simon Cocker 50^th (5^th Vet 60) and Dave Miller 66^th (8^th Vet 60)

The final senior race saw a runaway victory by professional Graham Briggs with regular local winner George Thompson away riding the national Trophy event at Derby. There was a real scrap between the Egner brothers which saw them work their way up into 7^th and 8^th overall by the end of the race, as a mechanical problem saw Adam drop back on the last lap
