On Wednesday evening Witham Wheelers Shaun Culpin, junior Adam Egner and local rider Ehren Courtman went to Plungar to take part in the 3/4 cat race. The race was fast, with the 45 strong field chasing attacks on the first lap, mainly from 1 team who were hoping a break would stay away. Adam got with a couple of the moves but they amounted to nothing and so he sat in the bunch and rested up for the bunch sprint. Shaun was prominent in trying to chase riders down but nobody wanted to help bring riders back and a sprint seemed immenent.

Coming into the finish, 4 riders who had managed to go clear earlier in the race were holding off the peloton by 200 metres, but the bunch started their sprint and were closing them quickly. The break just managed to stay infront, while Adam was just behind the lead 4 over the line in 5th place. Ehren and shaun both placed well in the bunch. All in all a good night for the wheelers then, showing well on the front and scoring some good BC points.
